Tom Cruise's flair for the dramatic will be on display on the world's biggest sporting stage. The Mission: Impossible 8 star is set to perform an epic stunt during the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Per TMZ, Cruise is crafting a major stunt to close out the ongoing summer games in Paris and hand over the Olympic flag to the 2028 edition, which takes place in Los Angeles. Sources claim Cruise will rappel down from the top of the Stade de France, land on the Parisian stadium's field and carry the Olympic flag. Additionally, the official Olympic TV feed will cut to a previously recorded film, with the film's first two minutes showing Cruise on a plane flying with the flag from Paris to Los Angeles, where he skydives to the Hollywood sign. The sign stunt was reportedly filmed in March, with images emerging of Cruise scaling it.

The honor has been given to other Hollywood big-wigs such as Martin Scorsese, Clint Eastwood and Robert Redford. His latest foray in Paris will see him pass the Olympic flag to other Olympians during the pre-recorded film, including a volleyball player, cyclist and skateboarder. Logistics regarding Cruise's live stunt are still being perfected ahead of the closing ceremony, which takes place on Aug. 11.
Tom Cruise Is Known for Jaw-Dropping Stunts
Especially thanks to Cruise's run in the Mission: Impossible franchise, fans know Cruise has a penchant for doing jaw-dropping stunts. The most recent installment of the spy thriller film series, Dead Reckoning, saw Cruise go through the wringer, including a big fight sequence on top of a moving train and an intense speed-flying stunt. He also rode his motorcycle off a cliff during Dead Reckoning, one of the most critically acclaimed Mission: Impossible films, despite being underwhelming at the box office amid heavy competition from Barbie and Oppenheimer.
