Egon, a seasoned player at 31 years old, is a key member of the Hong Kong baseball team. He's gearing up to compete at the National Games, a moment that validates years of relentless effort. Their journey begins with a challenging match against the host team, Guangdong, in Zhongshan this Wednesday.
But here's where it gets interesting: Egon isn't just a baseball player; he's also a business risk specialist at DBS. To participate in the National Games, he's using his precious annual leave. This means no relaxing vacations, no leisurely getaways. He's all in, and the sacrifices are real.
"I use all my time off for baseball and haven’t travelled on holiday for about five years," Egon shared. "We have two or three tournaments a year, and afterwards I often find I have no leave left. I say sorry to my family, but it’s what I choose."
And this is the part most people miss: The support system. Egon's parents have been his rock since he first picked up a bat at the tender age of five.
