‘Got Scammed’ Blinkit User Got Wrong Gold Coin With Complaint Window Closed; Company Reacts After Online Backlash (2024)

“Got scammed by Blinkit,” a Blinkit customer shared their harrowing account of getting scammed over their order of 1 gram worth gold coin. The company delivered a 0.5-gram gold coin instead. User Mohit Jain claimed that since he was not home, he gave the OTP to his younger brother to collect the order. When he arrived home, the user was flustered to see the wrong order delivered. The customer had ordered 1 gram of Mata Lakshmi gold coin; however, the delivered item was 0.5 gram of Malabar gold coin. The return window closes after twenty minutes, and thereby the user was met with the AI-bot message stating the same. With no option to contact a customer care executive, the user dialed the delivery guy. “I literally cried,” the user remarked while calling the delivery agent, who also expressed their helplessness regarding the same. After much online backlash, the quick delivery firm responded, as per the user’s follow-up tweet. The scammed customer tweeted that the company is finally getting the order returned after shooting a mail.

Reacting to the fiasco, several users condemned Blinkit over their pathetic services, while others were amused as to how someone can order something as valuable and expensive as gold via a 10-minute delivery service.

Please avoid these type of platform for this kind of product blinkit is totally pathetic agree with it.— Sandeep singh (@Sandeep4567892) October 29, 2024

Bhaii idk why you guys trust these apps for expensive items. These guys can't manage our small orders. But I feel sorry for you! Hope authorities take a notice of this. @letsblinkit nice fraud champ!— 😶‍🌫️ (@utturants) October 29, 2024

We were also scammed by blinkit. We ordered dry fruits for Diwali gift purpose. All the boxes we received were rotten and infested. When we tried to ask for refund they closed the return window and not responding to emails. We have decided not to use blinkit anymore so should oth— Sumit Singh (@Sumitsagi) October 29, 2024

Why on this earth would anybody buy gold online ? No matter how reliable or big the brand is u just can't afford any kind of blunder. 👆 u talking about the weight, what if it wasn't gold at all. Running from pillar to post is all u r left with.— Anupama Raj (@Anupamavraj) October 29, 2024

GenZ spotted. I mean how you guys are so much confident about online delivery of Gold. I don't even order toothpaste from blinkit to avoid a 2 month left expiry date.— ANKIT RAJ SINGH (@imankit_raj) October 29, 2024

Why you buy gold like this? We always go to PC Chandra and Sons jewellery shop and take delivery of physical gold. Gold is valuable. You should NOT have relied upon these 2 pence apps for something as valuable like gold. We donot trust these blinkit, delhivery new day platforms.— anandaroop sagar dat (@jerk2jerk) October 31, 2024

I had stopped using them atleast couple year back, when they had delivered rotten chicken.
So far I have almost always run into disappointment with almost every delivery platform, except bigbasket and to some extent Amazon fresh. I never had issue with refunds/support on these.
