Dietary supplements may help alleviate arthritis symptoms by reducing inflammation and supporting joint health. Here are some common supplements known for their potential benefits for arthritis relief:1. **Omega-3 fatty acids**: Found in fish oil, flaxseed oil, omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties that may help reduce joint pain and stiffness.2. **Turmeric/Curcumin**: Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric or curcumin supplements may help reduce inflammation in the joints.3. **Glucosamine and Chondroitin**: These compounds are natural components of cartilage and are often taken together to support joint health and reduce pain in osteoarthritis.4. **Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM)**: MSM is a sulfur compound that may help reduce inflammation and improve joint flexibility.5. **Vitamin D**: Adequate levels of vitamin D are important for bone health and may help reduce inflammation in arthritis.6. **Boswellia**: Also known as Indian frankincense, boswellia extract may help reduce inflammation and improve joint function. Do you take Vitamin D? If so, read on ….. I’ve said it before, and i’ll say it again, throwing in supplements willy nilly, is like throwing anti-biotics against recurring infections🤦🏻♀️Why? 1️⃣ Because it isn’t getting to the root cause of any issue in the first place. This is happening more and more in the Holistic Health industry, part is down to supplement marketing and health/fitness professionals throwing out recommendations without any real knowledge or background of the physiological and chemical functions and reactions in the body. 2️⃣ Vitamin D is known to antagonise thyroid function and increase the absorption and retention of calcium. Excessive vitamin D supplementation can also contribute to a loss of potassium and actually suppress thyroid expression! Yikes! And3️⃣ Vitamin D, is actually a hormone. Our body then converts this hormone into an active form via a chemical process and this process cannot happen if we just pop a vitamin D supplement in isolation. It is MADE via a chemical process involved as the sunlight hits our skin and interacts with cholesterol, which then gets converted into D3. Our lovely Liver (the forgotten organ!) then converts it further into circulating vitamin D and then onto the kidneys where it becomes it’s active form. So now maybe you can start to see why, by throwing in doses of vitamin D, you can then throw off other nutrients - leading to deficiencies and imbalances, as well as excess calcium absorption which can lead to calcification in the bodies tissues. The best ways to increase your active vitamin D - get outside for 10-15 mins (even if cloudy!) and increase your intake of grass fed butter, grass fed organic eggs and cod liver oil💚#healthcoach #hormones #guthealth #menopause

Use creatine to protect your brain from head injuries:Repeated head injuries can lead to second-impact syndrome, where a subsequent injury before full recovery causes rapid and potentially permanent brain damage. This is a significant risk for athletes, military, or anyone prone to traumatic brain injury (TBI) or concussions. But here's the good news: research has shown that creatine supplementation can help mitigate the damage caused by second-impact syndrome. In fact, studies have found that creatine depletion prior to additional impacts can worsen the damage to your brain. So, what should you do?If you do experience a head injury, it's essential to replenish your creatine stores as quickly as possible. Creatine monohydrate is a good option, as it's the most researched and widely used form in studies, and it's also one of the most affordable and available options.Creating a regular creatine supplementation routine can be beneficial for overall health and wellness, regardless of your risk level for head injuries. You can obtain creatine through both food sources and supplements. While it is possible to get creatine from food, particularly from meat sources (which contain around 400-600mg of creatine per 100g or 3.5oz serving), it can be challenging to achieve the high dosages needed through diet alone. Most studies on creatine monohydrate for brain injuries have used high dosages of around 20g per day, which is significantly higher than the typical dosages used for performance benefits. As a preventative measure, a daily dose of 5-10g may be sufficient for most people. However, if you know you'll be at risk of exposure to head impacts, you may want to increase your dosage to 20-30g per day for a week, split into multiple doses.Remember, the primary goal should always be to minimize the number of head impacts and injuries in the first place.Check out the full episode on all major podcast platforms or at https://lnkd.in/g_S5YmTbAdditionally, if you want to dive deeper into the benefits and research of creatine, Examine.com is a great resource:https://lnkd.in/gjpw8d5V

🧓👵👴Staying Active Over 50?As a pharmacist, we see many patients concerned about maintaining an active lifestyle as they age. The good news is, with proper care, "getting older" truly is just a number! Here’s a list of supplements tohelp remain fit. Supplements for Active Adults Over 50:⚫Whey Protein:Our body's ability to utilize protein decreases with age. Whey protein offers rapid absorption and high leucine content, promoting muscle protein synthesis, which is crucial for muscle growth and repair.⚫Creatine: This well-researched supplement enhances muscle performance and ATP production. It also boasts benefits for bone health and cognitive function, both important considerations for older adults.⚫Vitamin B12: Deficiency becomes more common with age. B12 is vital for energy production and proper muscle function. Supplementation is especially recommended for those with limited meat and dairy intake.⚫Vitamin D: Essential for bone health and muscle function, Vitamin D deficiency is prevalent, especially in colder months and among older adults. Supplementation can help bridge the gap.Remember:⚫Consult your doctor before starting any supplements.Supplements can be a valuable tool to optimize your exercise routine, but a healthy diet remains the foundation.⚫By staying active and making informed choices about supplementation, you can continue to enjoy the benefits of exercise well into your golden years!Let's connect! We are passionate about helping seniors thrive, and we believe pharmacists play a vital role in their well-being. Let's discuss how we can support your medication needs.TIB PharmacyT: (510)-573-0064A: 5886 Mowry School Rd, Newark CA, 94560#LongTermCare #MedicationManagement #BetterHealth #Teamwork #TIBPharmacy #NewarkPharmacy #pharmacyservices #longtermcare #LTCPharmacy #HospicePharmacy #EndOfLifeCare #hospicespecialized #ltcspecialized #ltcathome #enteraltherapy#MedicationManagement #PackagingPower #SimplifyYourHealthhttps://lnkd.in/gFWNhW6Z

DID YOU KNOW The Thymus Gland is the main component of your immune system? The Thymus gland begins to atrophy at puberty and continues it's steady decline as we age. The introduction of "new" cells may strengthen, support and improve the function of the thymus gland. Enhancing both general structure and function, causing a soft, gentle long-term improvement in all Endodermal tissue organs. Promoting general anti-aging, the thymus supports immunity organs and related systems.Learn more about the Thymus and Super Thymus dietary supplements at CellLifeUSA.com.#aging #regenerativehealth #health #wellness #immunesystem #skincare #antiaging #naturopath #holistichealth #conciergehealthcare

Omega-3 fatty acids, especially EPA and DHA found in fish like salmon, mackerel, and sardines, are effective in reducing inflammation. They work by decreasing the production of inflammatory molecules and enhancing anti-inflammatory compounds, which can help alleviate joint pain and stiffness. For those who don’t eat fish, omega-3s are also present in flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts, or can be supplemented. It’s always good to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new dietary or supplement regimen.#SingaporePodiatry #FootCareSG #PodiatryServices #HealthyFeet #SGHealthcare #MyFootDr #Podiatry #Orthotics #Podiatrist #Foothealth
