Ace Frehley’s Tragic Death: Full Story & Medical Details Revealed | KISS Guitarist Tribute (2025)

The tragic story of Ace Frehley, the legendary guitarist of Kiss, has taken a new turn with the release of a medical examiner's report. A fall, a life cut short, and a legacy left behind.

The report, obtained by Rolling Stone, reveals the devastating injuries Ace sustained after an accidental fall in October. It's a sad reminder of the fragility of life and the impact of such incidents.

Born Paul Frehley, Ace passed away at the age of 74 in Morristown, New Jersey. Initially, his death was attributed to a fall at home, but the specific cause remained unknown until now. The medical examiner's report sheds light on the extent of his injuries, painting a picture of a tragic accident.

A CT scan of Ace's head revealed multiple contusions, bone fractures at the back of his skull, hemorrhages, and a subdural hematoma - a type of bleeding that occurs in the brain after a head injury. Additionally, bruises were found on his hip, thigh, and abdomen. The report also mentions that Ace had suffered a stroke.

According to TMZ, Ace was placed on life support after the fall, and his family made the difficult decision to turn off his ventilator. The medical examiner's report further notes that doctors attempted a hemicraniectomy, a procedure aimed at alleviating the hematoma, but to no avail.

Ace's journey with Kiss began in 1973 and lasted until 1982, when he left due to substance abuse issues and creative differences with bandmates Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. He rejoined the band for their 1996 reunion tour but left again in 2002. The last time all four original members of Kiss performed together was in 2018, and Ace was set to attend this year's Kennedy Center Honors, where Kiss was being recognized.

Gene Simmons paid tribute to Ace, writing, "No one can touch Ace's legacy. I know he loved the fans. He told me many times... Ace was the eternal rock soldier. Long may his legacy live on!"

After leaving Kiss, Ace pursued a solo career, performing and recording as a solo artist. His last concert was on September 5th in Providence, Rhode Island. Later that month, he canceled a show due to a fall at home, and subsequently, all his remaining dates were pulled due to ongoing medical issues.

A funeral was held for Ace on October 23rd in the Bronx. His friend, SiriusXM host Eddie Trunk, received permission from Ace's family to organize a tribute show and fan celebration, though details are yet to be announced.

This story is a reminder of the impact of music icons and the lasting legacy they leave behind. It also raises questions about the challenges artists face and the importance of support systems. And this is the part most people miss: the human story behind the music.
