Are you kidding? If you like to be outdoors, then Barriere and the surrounding areas have something for you! If you prefer your recreation of the indoor variety, well, we can probably keep you busy too.
Enjoy all that Barriere has to offer!
Barriere and it's surrounding areas are a recreational paradise year round. What's your pleasures? World Class skiing and snowboarding at the nearby Sun Peaks resort? We have excellent snow and lovely trails if cross country skiing is your pleasure (be sure to try the Barriere Heritage Society's un-groomed cross country circuit or the groomed trails at Sun Peaks).
A well known snowmobiling destination, Barriere boasts some of the best snowmobiling found anywhere! The Barriere Snowmobile Club sanctions events such as Snowarama, (great fun for a great cause) - or just head on up to Green or other local mountains (including Harp Mountain featured on our homepage) to experience our amazing scenery and snow conditions.
Our lakes have been referred to as a "best kept secret" of the B.C. interior. They are clean, cool and full of fish - best of all, they are completely uncrowded! The shallow bay of East Barriere Lake is a good place to start for beach activities and swimming, and fishermen will never be disappointed by the multitude of choices in the surrounding lake district.
Barriere offers other, possibly more sedate pursuits in it's multiple ball-parks, horseshoe pits, tennis courts, rodeo grounds and curling rink.
If you just want to take advantage of the very cooperative weather with a day on the green, we invite you to enjoy the Chinook Cove Golf Course - just off of Highway 5 north of town center.
